040. luddites

can't think of many creative titles, since i don't have much to write about. nothing new has really happened, just that i'm (still) stressed and that i'm (still) looking for apartments and that my projects this week have not gone down.

project list
- artist/craftsperson (due tuesday, no model, asked for an extension)
- musician (still hearing back from the group, no models yet)
- term project (0/6 completed)

as for apartments, i was turned down for the one that i wanted oh so badly. she rented the place out til august, so it'll open sept1 but we need a place NOW unless we all stay with RNR for another session then move in there but it's not that big of a deal. i looked for another place immediately and saw two had open houses. really liked the first one we went to but the guy wants the applications done by today.. so sort of panicked about that. i finished mine and bryant finished his.. brad was at work so he's going to fill it out today when he comes home for dinner (he's at work til 1am). and i have to fill out an app for my parents and i had to have them send me their bank statements for the past two months so he could see our credit and whatnot, 'cause bryant's parents were busy and preferred that my parents did it..

oh boy that was a journey. my parents are completely and totally inept at using technology, right? so.. on top of all of that.. i had to have a bank statement sent to me by today. so i tried faxing, because somehow my mom knows how to use a fax machine of all things. but my mom wasn't home and i had forgotten that we had gotten a new fax machine, so i couldn't even explain it to my dad. so i had him go to kinko's and fax it to the kinko's that i was at.. that worked but apparently it takes up to a day to receive a fax. i don't understand that. maybe if there's only one poor overworked server for kinko's state-wide, maybe. but still. stupid. anyway, so then i had to figure out if they could scan something. so i had to look up stuff online and then call them--why have them call if it takes forever for them to look it up via yellow pages (or white pages? forgot which one was which) and then talk about something they don't understand. so then after all of that, i got them to go to kinko's. but halfway there they decided to turn back around because their fax thing was an all-in-one so it had a scanner too. so even though i told her that i had no idea how to scan it (had never used it), she decided to head home, just to call me to ask me how to do it (which is even funnier, because i was telling her i had no idea but she "couldn't hear me" because she kept talking over me. whenever i was telling her "mom i don't know", she was saying "sarah, i can't hear you!" at the exact same time). and then i told her that i had no idea (again) and told her to go to kinko's. and i guess they figured it out all right (they had instruction books at kinko's) and sent it to me, no problems. amazing!

Lud·dite (lŭd'īt) n.
1. Any of a group of British workers who between 1811 and 1816 rioted and destroyed laborsaving textile machinery in the belief that such machinery would diminish employment.
2. One who opposes technical or technological change.

another story on luddites later. anyway.. so.. yes. then i had my dad sign a blank piece of paper and scan it and send it to me so i could put it into photoshop and copy it over to the paper that i needed a signature on (had to take a picture because i, of course, have no scanner here--at least not with the MAC's plug and play thing; i have to have a software). awesome. thanks photoshop, thanks brooks labs. you taught me how to "forge". well. not persay. but you know. anyways.. so that was a total ordeal. then i had to have some other information so i decided to send my mom an email so she could fill it out for me and send it back instead of me rushing to write down as my dad dictated it. and so i sent it, called my dad to tell him to tell mom that i had sent an email. awhile goes by, no reply. so i call home and she picks up and i ask her if she had gotten the email.. and she says no. why didn't she call me?! aaargghhh. so i sent it to her again then she decides to read me what i typed to her.. why?? augh. but she finally got the information and then.. yea. then my dad gets on the phone and he's frustrated because he wants to know why the renter wants to know so much information about him (i guess i didn't have to fill it all out but i decided to anyways) and then said that if the renter doesn't think my dad can pay rent, to tell him that my dad is willing to pay a full year's rent (if he gets 10% off). jeebus.

besides apartments.. i've been looking up furniture up on craigslist. a fairly clean full-size bed, tables+chairs.. don't know about sofa's too much but if we can save money on other things, i'm sure a nicer sofa would be okay. trying to find stuff that girls have owned, versus guys owning it.. or pwning it.. you know. there's a difference. anyways.. so yea. i guess that's still related to the apartment. :\ boo.

school school.. um.. projects, as listed above. i think i want to go home to take pictures for my final 6 (term project).. it'll make my life alot easier now that we have a printer. no use fighting people to use the ones on campus. no more of that nonsense :D yay. anyway.. so yea. but i should get some of the images done NOW.. but then i'd have to find models, places.. eh. we'll see. i might end up going home maybe tuesday night, since i don't have class on wednesday. seeing if i can get people to help me out on that, but it's ehs graduation so that might be hard too. not that most people are doing anything during wed. day.. but.. yea. eh. as for artist/craftsperson.. i do admit, i did procrastinate on it a bit. i called a bunch of places and people but either people didn't get back to me or they weren't open on the weekends (or especially sunday.. or had weird weekend hours) and the ones that did answer (i called mosly florists) said it was a bad week because it's gradation week. and earlier wouldn't have worked either because it was prom. jeebus :( so.. yes. i asked the teacher for an extension, hopefully until thursday i think. that might help a little. still have to look around, maybe call a few more florists or something. i really do want to take some pictures of a cake decorator. that would be awesome. and get some cake for home too maybe. yumm..

speaking of artist/craftsperson, bryant took a picture of a glass blower. AWESOME. and when he came back, he had a present for me :) special first edition (haha, the guy had just made this shape of glass for the first time two days ago and this was the one that he made) vase. it's actually really awesome. it's shaped like a calalily. cala lily? i have to take pictures of it still but i'll post it up soon.. make my blogs a little more interesting that way.

and i have to get bryant's ring resized. i hope that they can. i think it's just silver. anyway.. so yea. 'cause i got him a size 8 but apparently he's a size 9. i told him to stop cracking his knuckles! anyway.. yea. boo. he hasn't been wearing it for the past week or two because it's too uncomfortable. i have it on my right pointer finger, as of a couple hours ago. i'm just too lazy to walk into the bedroom and put it back into the box that i took it out of. where he put it for safe keeping. boo.. there's an awesome silver shop around here that has this really cool looking ring. i really want to get it.. but i already have a heart-shaped ring (and more importantly, from bryant). here's a pic: (link). anyway.. they sell the same sort of ring for $20, so it's like.. well.. it costs $20 to resize.. or it costs $20 to buy another one (link). so we'll see. me and silver rings :P haha. they ARE cool though. i didn't even used to like rings (i didn't use to like rings..) i used to not like rings, just 'cause they were uncomfortable. but now i like them (duhhh..)

i'm having such a problem just speaking english. i forget words and mix up sentences.. i feel so fobby!! and i have no reason to be. it's sort of like when i was in japan, when i was around nothing but japanese and the occasional person or people who liked to speak in english (especially when drunk). but i don't think my english was that bad even then. except for when my mom was trying to speak in english and i had to correct her. well. not even then. mostly when she asked me "what is --this-- in english?" and i had to really, really think about it.. i admit, sometimes i'll forget a word or two in english so i'll say the japanese word for it and then take a really long time (or sometimes not too long) to remember the english translation but now i'm just forgetting words. maybe my brain is rotting. i need to read more books.

rot rot rot.

i kidnapped blake's elephant and left a ransom note, saying if he didn't do the dishes within three hours (from when he got back), that the elephant would get it. and he apparently didn't get the note at all.. brad ended up doing them. and i finished what he did. and bryant has been washing random dishes that have been in the sink just because he was so happy with the empty sink that he doesn't want it to fill up again. how funny.

this is a really long blog.

You are late-sleepy relaxation, the half-awake moment when you realize it's morning, but you don't have to get up, because there's no place you have to be. You are that cozy spot under the covers where everything feels temporarily perfect, even if you know you'll eventually have to wiggle out and start the day. Maybe you're the artistic type, who doesn't function well on a normal schedule. Sleep's important to you, and you like the freedom of sleeping as late as you want (especially since that is closely related to the freedom to stay up as late as you want). You like to roll out of bed, put on some comfy clothes, and get a laid back start to the day. If not everything on your list gets accomplished, no worries. Your only priority is having no priorities ? you just want to take things at a slow, mellow pace.

oh, i wish i had more time to relax. this is definitely how i'd want to be, this is the INNER me.

x0xo love you girls
